Sister Barbara was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She was in the International Order of Job's Daughters in Denver from 1950 to 1959, when she became a Majority Member upon marrying. She joined OES in Spencer, New York in 1961, affiliated with Hayward Chapter in Hayward, California in 1979. Moving to Fairfield, California in 1988, she became a member of Suisun Chapter #2, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1994. Barbara is a Past Matron of Ruth Chapter #6 and is now a member of Silver City Chapter #3, where she is currently the Conductress. She has served Grand Chapter in several capacities: District Instructor, Grand Representative, and as Grand Marshal. She and her husband Charles have 6 children and 21 grandchildren between them. .
